Solana Unveils Quantum-Resistant Roadmap Amid Growing Concerns

The Solana ecosystem is taking proactive measures to address the potential threat of quantum computers on its network.

Researchers from two primary development teams, Anza and Firedancer, have been studying how to transition the network to 'post-quantum' standards. After years of collaboration, both groups reached the same conclusion: the network needs a new type of digital signature called 'Falcon.'

This specific system is designed for high-speed blockchains, ensuring that security upgrades do not slow down transaction speeds.

The Solana community has outlined a three-step roadmap to maintain its security. The first step involves continued evaluation and testing of 'Falcon' and other alternative security schemes.

Once the threat becomes urgent, all new digital wallets will adopt the updated security system in the second step. Finally, existing wallets will be migrated to the new standard to ensure the entire network remains protected.
