US Raises Global Tariffs to 15%, Limited by Trade Act of 1974
The US government has announced an increase in global tariffs from 10% to 15%, effective immediately. This decision comes after the Supreme Court blocked previous tariff plans under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
The new tariff rate is based on Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which limits rates and sets a time frame of 150 days without congressional approval.
