Pakistan Accelerates Crypto Regulation Amid Efforts to Boost Digital Economy
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the authorities to expedite the process of legalizing and regulating cryptocurrency in Pakistan. This decision is part of a broader effort to modernize the country's economic structure and strengthen its institutions.
The Prime Minister stressed the need for the regulatory framework to be fully operational without delay, and aligned with international standards. He emphasized that this step will not only enhance investor confidence but also prepare the youth for future economic challenges.
In line with these objectives, the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) is moving towards becoming a fully functional regulatory body. The authority has launched a regulatory sandbox to support innovation in areas such as AI-based payments and regulated virtual asset services.
