Crypto Adoption Remains Under 1% of Global Wealth: CZ
Crypto adoption remains in its infancy, according to Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. In an interview on July 16, CZ stated that digital asset ownership represents less than 1% of global wealth.
This figure highlights the limited penetration of cryptocurrency into mainstream financial markets. The global wealth totals several hundred trillion dollars across equities, bonds, real estate, and bank deposits.
CZ pointed out that fiat on- and off-ramps still involve significant friction, with exchange bank relationships, compliance slowdowns, and uneven regional coverage hindering user experience. Stablecoins have yet to offer attractive yields and easy tradability, leaving a large amount of idle capital on the sidelines.
The tokenized assets sector is also in its early stages, with only a small number of stocks having been tokenized so far. CZ's observation suggests that the industry should focus on building infrastructure that can pull in trillions from outside rather than competing for existing crypto users.
