Cryptocurrency Payment Cards Reach New Record in Transaction Volume
Cryptocurrency payment cards have been gaining popularity in recent years, and their transaction volume has been steadily increasing. According to data from PaymentScan, the total transaction volume of cryptocurrency payment cards rose to $584.5 million in March 2026, marking a significant increase of 211% compared to the previous year.
This milestone surpasses the previous all-time high of $550 million reached in January 2026 and marks a new record for cryptocurrency payment cards. The growth is attributed to the increasing adoption and acceptance of cryptocurrencies, as well as the development of new financial instruments and infrastructure.
It's worth noting that the data from PaymentScan only tracks transactions made with prepaid crypto cards linked to major payment networks like Visa and Mastercard. However, it's estimated that the actual transaction volume is significantly higher, potentially exceeding $1.5 billion per month, considering the use of centralized exchange cards.
