Bitcoin Price Plummets as Crypto Liquidations Reach Record High
The cryptocurrency market continues to experience volatility as the price of Bitcoin drops below $73,000. This decline is accompanied by nearly $1 billion in crypto liquidations over the past day, highlighting the leverage used by investors.
According to data from Coinglass, a total of $931 million worth of positions have been liquidated across the market, despite Bitcoin falling less than 4%. This surge in liquidations emphasizes the use of high leverage even as the leading cryptocurrency remains within the $77,000 to $78,000 range.
The downturn is also attributed to outflows from spot Bitcoin ETFs, which have reached a total of $1.02 billion over three days this week. These outflows add to the previous two weeks' totals of $1.26 billion and $1 billion, according to SoSoValue data. The escalation of the Middle East conflict has further contributed to the market's instability.
