Revolut Axes USDT Support Amid EU Regulatory Pressures

Revolut has announced it will discontinue support for Tether's USDT stablecoin by August 31, 2026. The decision is a result of compliance obligations under the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework.

The fintech giant secured its MiCA authorization through Cyprus's financial watchdog, CySEC, but Tether chose not to pursue similar approval, rendering USDT incompatible with licensed EU exchanges.

Revolut has already begun alerting users about the phase-out and will cease purchasing capabilities for USDT on July 6. New deposits will no longer be accepted starting July 30, after which users can either liquidate their positions or transfer tokens to external wallets until the deadline.
