Crypto ETFs Bridge Gap Between TradFi and Digital Assets
BlackRock's Jay Jacobs says US crypto ETFs are bringing in new investors to traditional finance. The company's iShares Bitcoin Trust, which has $48 billion in assets under management, has been a gateway for people to get into digital assets.
According to Jacobs, around three-quarters of investors in the iShares Bitcoin Trust have never owned an ETF before. This suggests that the product is not only attracting new crypto investors but also bringing traditional investors into the world of digital assets.
Jacobs notes that once investors get exposure to the Bitcoin product, many start buying other BlackRock funds, such as the S&P 500 (IVV) and gold (IAU). This trend indicates a two-way shift between traditional finance and crypto, which Jacobs refers to as the 'Great Convergence'.
The 'Great Convergence' is marked by a growing overlap between crypto, decentralized finance, and traditional finance. Jacobs believes that this convergence will lead to more solutions for managing portfolios, making it easier for investors to transition between different asset classes.
