Spacecoin Develops Decentralized Internet Network for Space-Based Data Centers
Spacecoin is at the forefront of developing a decentralized internet network that can provide communication services for space-based data centers and underconnected terrestrial regions.
The project aims to establish a shared, interoperable layer for the orbital economy, which will enable disparate orbital assets to efficiently exchange information and potentially lay the groundwork for an interconnected space economy.
Spacecoin has deployed physical infrastructure, including satellites in low-Earth orbit, to support its network. The team launched its first satellite, CTC-0, in December 2024, establishing ground-to-satellite connectivity, and facilitated 'the world's first end-to-end blockchain transaction through space' in October 2025.
The network expanded with three additional CTC-1 satellites in November 2025, enabling testing of intersatellite links, a technology allowing satellites to exchange data directly. This direct communication will be essential for future orbital data centers, enabling them to communicate without routing every byte back through Earth.
