Florida Man Arrested in $220K Crypto Heist via Malware-Tainted Steam Games

A young Florida man has been arrested for allegedly leading a malware campaign that targeted Steam users and stole over $220,000 in cryptocurrency. The scheme operated between May 2024 and February 2026, infecting nearly 8,000 devices and compromising almost 80 cryptocurrency wallets.

The malware was hidden in games uploaded to Steam, allowing attackers to gain access to victims' systems and steal digital assets. Investigators allege the group distributed eight malware-infected games through Steam over nearly two years, including BlockBlasters, Chemia, Dashverse (DashFPS), Lampy, Lunara, PirateFi, and Tokenova.

The FBI followed cryptocurrency transactions that led them to identify Zyaire Wilkins of North Lauderdale, Florida as a suspect. Agents traced stolen cryptocurrency used to purchase over 150 digital gift cards through Bitrefill, which were often redeemed for Uber Eats orders.
