Satellite-Based Decentralized Internet Network Aims to Revolutionize Space Economy
Spacecoin is a satellite-based decentralized internet network that seeks to provide communication services for space-based data centers and underconnected terrestrial regions. The project aims to solve the issue of latency caused by routing processes through terrestrial cell towers and fiber-optic cables, making it possible for space-based data centers to operate efficiently.
The network will use a blockchain-enabled satellite constellation in low-Earth orbit to establish a shared, interoperable layer for the orbital economy. This will enable disparate orbital assets to exchange information directly, potentially laying the groundwork for an interconnected space economy.
Spacecoin has already deployed physical infrastructure, launching its first satellite in December 2024 and three additional satellites in November 2025. The team has also facilitated the world's first end-to-end blockchain transaction through space in October 2025.
