UK Court Hears Allegations of Multi-Million Dollar Bitcoin Theft Through Home Security Cameras
A significant crypto theft case is making its way through the UK High Court, with allegations of over $176 million worth of Bitcoin being stolen by an individual's estranged wife using their home's security cameras.
According to reports, Fun Yung Li and her sister visited Ping Fai Yuen's home in October 2023, where they allegedly used a concealed camera to record him entering his seed phrase and access codes into his Trezor hardware wallet. This master key to his crypto wallet was the only thing standing between Ping and a substantial loss.
The alleged theft was not discovered until weeks later, when Ping's daughter overheard discussions about the plot. He subsequently installed hidden audio recording equipment and claims to have captured Fun discussing the theft and how to move large sums without triggering bank or law enforcement scrutiny.
