South Korea's Google Play Store has removed the Bybit mobile application from its platform, sparking concerns about the country's increasingly aggressive approach to regulating overseas cryptocurrency exchanges.

The move follows a broader campaign by South Korean authorities to tighten oversight of foreign virtual asset service providers (VASPs), particularly those that have not completed the country's regulatory registration process.

Although no government agency has officially confirmed that regulators directly ordered Google's action, the timing closely aligns with earlier guidance issued by South Korea's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) warning overseas exchanges serving Korean users without proper registration could face enforcement measures.

Binance and Bitget remain available for download on South Korea's Google Play Store, fueling speculation about why certain exchanges are being treated differently.
