US Seizes $1 Billion in Iranian Crypto Assets Under Operation Economic Fury

The US Treasury Department has made a significant move against Iran's economy, announcing the seizure of nearly $1 billion in Iranian cryptocurrency assets. The operation, codenamed Operation Economic Fury, was launched in March 2025 and aims to cripple Tehran's financial lifelines.

According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the seized funds are a result of successful military campaigns and economic pressure on Iran. 'We have seized about a billion dollars of their crypto,' he said. 'Just outright grabbed the wallets.'

Bessent emphasized that the operation has isolated Iran financially, with many foreign governments cutting ties with the nation. He also mentioned that US allies in Europe are working to seize Iranian assets and properties.
