Coinbase Introduces Pre-IPO Perpetual Futures Contracts for SpaceX
Coinbase has expanded its offerings with the introduction of pre-IPO perpetual futures contracts for SpaceX, a move that enables traders outside the US to gain exposure to the company's valuation before its expected initial public offering (IPO).
The product is structured as a USDC-settled contract that trades continuously and has no expiration date, mirroring the experience of traditional crypto perpetual futures. This allows users to speculate on SpaceX's value without requiring ownership of company shares or access to private equity markets.
Coinbase plans to expand this category with additional pre-IPO listings across high-growth sectors such as AI, technology, energy, and space, opening up opportunities for institutional investors and specialized private market participants. The launch follows the trend of several other exchanges offering similar pre-IPO trading products, including Trade.xyz, Binance, and Crypto.com.
