Coinbase Deploys AI Agents in Internal Communication Channels

Crypto exchange Coinbase has begun piloting the use of artificial intelligence (AI) agents within its internal communication channels.

The AI agents, which appear in Slack and email like regular team members, are designed to assist employees with various tasks and provide feedback on strategic decisions. At launch, two agents were introduced: 'Fred' and 'Balaji', modeled after former Coinbase executives Fred Ehrsam and Balaji Srinivasan.

According to CEO Brian Armstrong, the company plans to make it easy for any employee to create new agents for themselves or their team in the future. This could potentially lead to a significant shift in the company's organizational structure, with AI agents outnumbering human employees.
