Bitcoin Protocol Aims to Bring DeFi Applications Directly onto the Network

OP_NET is a new protocol launched on the Bitcoin network with the goal of enabling decentralized finance (DeFi) applications through standard transactions. Unlike other DeFi solutions that require bridging or wrapping assets, OP_NET embeds smart contract interactions into ordinary Bitcoin transactions.

The founders of OP_NET state that their system avoids Ordinals-related blockchain bloat and operates without issuing a new token. They argue that their approach keeps the existing liquidity on the network itself and allows for more scalability.
