Grayscale Files for Worldcoin ETF Amid Price Surge
Grayscale has taken advantage of the recent rebound in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to expand its altcoin offerings. In an S-1 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on July 20, 2026, Grayscale proposed launching a Worldcoin ETF under the ticker 'GWLD.' This move comes as the price of WLD surged by almost 8% in the past 24 hours.
The new fund would allow investors to gain exposure to WLD's price without directly purchasing or managing the cryptocurrency. However, it's essential to note that this investment vehicle does not provide the same level of protection as conventional mutual funds or CFTC-regulated products.
Grayscale plans to list the fund on the Nasdaq, which would expedite its launch under generic listing standards. The Sponsor, Grayscale Investments Sponsors, LLC, is part of a chain of entities owned by Digital Currency Group (DCG). BitGo Bank & Trust will hold WLD and its private keys, while CSC Delaware Trust Company serves as trustee and BNY Mellon acts as transfer agent and administrator.
In related news, Grayscale's other ETFs have seen mixed performance. On July 20, its BTC saw $41.4 million in inflows, but GBTC experienced $45.4 million in outflows. Meanwhile, Worldcoin's price was trading at $0.3858 at press time.
