Global Market Volatility Weighs on Cryptocurrency Prices
The cryptocurrency market has been negatively affected by global market fluctuations and inflation concerns. The US Treasury yields have remained elevated, limiting risk appetite across equities and crypto. Bitcoin's price has struggled to reclaim key levels, weighed down by continuing spot Bitcoin ETF outflows in June, amounting to about $2.1 billion.
Furthermore, a comparison between Coinbase's Bitcoin pricing and international exchanges quoted in USDT showed a persistent discount over the past five weeks, indicating weaker US institutional appetite for Bitcoin. The discount has coincided with persistent caution around Strategy's STRC preferred equity structure, where dividends depend on fixed issuance mechanics.
The uncertainty surrounding US-Iran diplomacy has also contributed to the decline in global markets. President Donald Trump's comments that a memorandum of understanding with Iran is not yet final have raised concerns about oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz and potential inflation pressure.
