BlackRock Launches Bitcoin Premium Income ETF for Income-Hungry Investors

BlackRock has launched the iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (NASDAQ:BITA), an exchange-traded fund that combines bitcoin exposure with monthly option premium income.

The fund, which is designed to appeal to investors seeking both income generation and bitcoin upside exposure, holds a combination of spot bitcoin and the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (NASDAQ:IBIT).

According to BlackRock's Head of Digital Assets, Robert Mitchnick, BITA was created in response to demand from clients who are interested in bitcoin but also prioritize income generation.

The fund writes call options on IBIT, representing approximately 25% to 35% of the portfolio, and generates option premiums that may be distributed to investors monthly. This structure allows for tax efficiencies, including the ability to pass through capital losses to offset other investment gains.
