Cardano Community Shifts to Discord Amid X Platform Challenges

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has announced plans to shift community activity from X (formerly Twitter) to Discord. In a surprise live AMA from Wyoming, he outlined the reasons behind this decision and provided updates on various Cardano projects.

Hoskinson stated that maintaining productive discussions on X has become increasingly difficult due to repeated allegations, hostile engagement, and low-quality debate. To address these issues, he plans to move the main community dialogue into a moderated Discord environment, similar to the Midnight Discord channel, which has grown from 11,000 users to 49,000 users over the past six months.

The Cardano team will form a working group after Hoskinson's return to Colorado, comprising community members and ecosystem participants to design the new Discord structure. The goal is to create well-moderated channels where users, developers, and key opinion leaders can communicate in an organized manner.

Hoskinson also provided updates on various Cardano projects, including Midnight, RealFi, and governance. He mentioned that RealFi is making progress with John O'Connor stepping into the RealFi Foundation, and that Hogan, a Bitcoin DeFi initiative, is nearing release.
