US Department of Justice Cracks Down on Cryptocurrency-Related Crimes
The US Department of Justice (DOJ) has been actively enforcing anti-money laundering (AML) regulations in the cryptocurrency space. In 2025, AML enforcement became the leading regulatory risk for crypto companies, with the DOJ and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) imposing $900 million in related fines.
The DOJ has also taken action against investment scams targeting Americans, freezing over $701 million in cryptocurrencies linked to these schemes. This operation also seized a Telegram channel used to promote the scams.
