XRP Scams Targeting Wallets: Developer Issues Alert
XRP Ledger developer Wietse Wind has issued a warning to the XRP community about scams targeting wallet holders. Scammers are sending fake NFTs or 'passes' to unsuspecting users, with the intent of trading something in return.
Wind shared his concerns through a tweet, where he flagged a fake Xaman NFT as an example of such scams. He stressed that wallet providers like Xaman do not send 'passes' or NFTs, and that these are being sent by scammers.
Wind advises XRP holders to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited offers, and to verify the authenticity of the sender before accepting any offer. This includes checking the wallet address of the artist or project.
The developer also shared some tips for staying safe while using XRP wallets, including never engaging with anything that doesn't feel trustworthy, never accepting offers that weren't asked for, and never sharing secrets or signing transactions that seem too good to be true.
