Australian Senate Backs Crypto Regulation Framework

The Australian Senate has taken a significant step towards regulating the cryptocurrency industry with the endorsement of proposed legislation. The Corporations Amendment (Digital Assets Framework) Bill 2025 seeks to integrate digital asset managers into the country's financial services framework, bringing them under existing rules.

The bill aims to modernize digital-asset oversight by establishing a licensing and compliance system for digital token managers. This would amend the Corporations Act 2001 and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001.
