Tether Invests $200 Million in Whop to Expand Stablecoin Payments
Tether, a leading cryptocurrency company, has made a significant investment in Whop, an online marketplace that connects creators with buyers. The investment of $200 million values Whop at $1.6 billion, according to its CEO Steven Schwartz.
Whop's platform allows users to purchase access to software tools, trading groups, online communities, and learning courses. With 18.4 million users and a gross transaction volume that increases by 25% month-over-month, Whop is growing rapidly.
The integration of Tether's crypto wallet tool on the platform will enable users to hold and transact in stablecoins such as USDT and USAT directly. This move aims to increase the adoption of stablecoins for everyday online commerce and consumer-facing platforms.
