Crypto Wallet Linked to 20-Year-Old Suspect Processes Over $122 Million
A 20-year-old suspected fraudster's crypto wallet processed over $122.5 million in just 10 months, according to Interpol.
The operation, known as Operation First Light 2026, involved 97 countries and territories and resulted in 5,811 arrests, $293 million in intercepted illicit assets, and more than 142,000 identified victims.
The wallet, tied to the suspect, used cross-chain swaps to obscure its financial trail. This made it difficult for investigators to track the money as it moved between different blockchain ledgers and services.
Cross-chain activity can be particularly challenging for law enforcement agencies to monitor, as each swap adds another layer of complexity to an investigation.
