Trump Admin Rules Out CBDC, Demands Swift Passage of CLARITY Act

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has ruled out the development of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) under the Trump administration.

In a White House press briefing on May 28, 2026, Bessent stated that there will be no U.S. CBDC.

Bessent also emphasized the need for Congress to quickly pass the CLARITY Act, which aims to bring the crypto industry under regulatory oversight.
