Agriculture Leaders Press Trump for CFTC Appointments Amid Clarity Act Pressure
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is facing a staffing crisis as House Agriculture Committee leaders urge President Trump to fill vacant positions at the agency. In a letter dated May 15, Chair Glenn Thompson and Ranking Member Angie Craig emphasized the importance of a full bipartisan slate of CFTC members to ensure effective regulation.
The Senate Banking Committee's advancement of the CLARITY Act has added pressure on the agency to implement clearer regulations for cryptocurrencies. The bill would expand the CFTC's mandate over spot digital commodity trades and introduce stricter rules for market oversight.
