Harvard University's Endowment Sells Entire Stake in BlackRock Ether ETF
Harvard University's endowment has made significant changes to its cryptocurrency holdings in the first quarter. The university sold its entire $86.8 million stake in BlackRock's spot Ether ETF, which is a type of exchange-traded fund (ETF) that tracks the price of Ethereum.
The endowment also reduced its holding in the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, also known as IBIT, by 43%. As of March 31, Harvard held 3.04 million shares of IBIT, valued at around $117 million. This is a significant decrease from the 5.35 million shares held at the end of 2025.
Other university endowments have also made adjustments to their cryptocurrency holdings. Dartmouth College kept its IBIT position unchanged, while Brown University maintained its 212,500-share IBIT position. Emory University sold some of its IBIT shares and increased its holding in the Grayscale Bitcoin Mini Trust.
