CNMV Updates Internal Regulations for Crypto-Asset Operations

The National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) has revised its internal regulations to include operations with crypto-assets. This change is part of the regulatory and organizational updates introduced in the Internal Regulations following its update.

The new text redefines the competencies of the general directorates to align them with recent European regulations, such as MiCA, the DLT Pilot Regime, and DORA, related to crypto-assets, financial instruments based on distributed ledger technologies, and digital operational resilience.

The CNMV has also changed the name of the former Department of Information Systems to the Department of Technology and Digital Innovation. In this area, the supervisor has enhanced the functions of this department in designing and developing digital capabilities, including artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
