Wanchain Cardano-BNB Bridge Exploited for $9M Worth of NIGHT Tokens

The Wanchain Cardano-BNB bridge was reportedly exploited on July 20, resulting in the theft of approximately 515 million NIGHT tokens worth around $9 million.

According to blockchain security firm BlockSec's Phalcon, a possible signature reuse flaw in the TreasuryCheck validator may have allowed an attacker to drain the tokens from the bridge treasury.

The Midnight Foundation stated that the incident was isolated to Wanchain's bridge infrastructure and did not involve the Midnight Network itself. The foundation added that their core network, validators, consensus, and core infrastructure remain secure.

NIGHT tokens fell sharply after the incident, dropping more than 30% in value as large token sales hit the market.
