Ferro Sentenced to 78 Months for Crypto Theft Scheme
A federal court in Washington, D.C. has handed down a significant sentence in the case of a crypto thief involved in a large-scale social engineering scheme. Marlon Ferro, 20, was sentenced to 78 months in prison for his role in stealing over $250 million in cryptocurrency from U.S. victims.
The group's methods were multifaceted and included fake calls, database hacks, laundering, and residential break-ins. Prosecutors stated that the stolen funds supported luxury spending, including cars, watches, private jet rentals, and expensive homes.
Ferro pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to participate in a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization on October 17, 2025. The court also ordered three years of supervised release and $2.5 million in restitution.
