US Sanctions Iran's Top Crypto Exchange for Funding IRGC Activities

The United States has intensified its financial pressure on Iran by sanctioning Nobitex, the country's largest cryptocurrency exchange.

According to a statement released by the US Department of the Treasury, Nobitex has been used by state actors to evade international blockades and facilitate payments linked to Iran's terrorist activities.

The sanctions also target Nobitex's CEO and three original co-founders, as well as freezing the assets of three competing Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges.

US officials accused the platform of enabling regime insiders to access international digital asset exchanges and evade sanctions across multiple jurisdictions.
