Circle's Gateway Hits $410M in Crosschain USDC Transfers

Circle's Gateway infrastructure has processed over $410 million in crosschain USDC transfers between March and June this year, according to fresh data shared by the company. This marks a significant milestone for the platform, which aims to boost liquidity efficiency and faster settlements across multiple blockchain networks.

The update points to rising demand for faster liquidity movement across multiple blockchain networks, with Circle's Gateway supporting 12 blockchain networks, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Polygon PoS, Optimism, HyperEVM, Sei, Sonic, Unichain, and World Chain.

Before integrating Gateway, Relay kept separate USDC balances on each blockchain. However, this approach allowed for quick settlements but forced the company to lock liquidity across many networks. The new setup allows Relay to access one shared USDC balance across Gateway-supported chains, enabling larger payments to complete without waiting for manual liquidity rebalancing.

Circle highlighted that Gateway operates with a non-custodial design, where user funds remain protected through transaction signatures and Gateway attestations instead of direct custody by Relay. The company reported that the integration has allowed Relay to support more payment volume without increasing idle working capital, reducing the amount of USDC that must remain parked across different chains.
