Trump Delays Housing Bill Amid CBDC Ban and SAVE America Act Push

U.S. President Donald Trump has delayed signing the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which includes a ban on the Federal Reserve issuing a central bank digital currency (CBDC) through the end of 2030.

The bill's passage was seen as a significant development in the regulatory landscape for digital assets, particularly stablecoins. The legislation allows for 'dollar-denominated' tokens that meet specified openness and access characteristics, distinguishing them from CBDCs.

Trump linked the delay to his push for the SAVE America Act, which would require voters to provide proof of U.S. citizenship in person to register. This move has raised uncertainty about other pending crypto-related legislation, including the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act.
