MegaETH Brings Real-Time Performance to Ethereum Layer 2 Blockchain

MegaETH is a Layer 2 blockchain built on Ethereum that aims to provide real-time performance, rivaling centralized systems. Its architecture assigns different roles to nodes based on hardware capability, allowing for high-speed transaction processing.

The network uses a sequencer node, prover nodes, full nodes, and replica nodes to achieve its performance goals. The sequencer handles block production, while prover nodes validate blocks asynchronously using stateless validation. Full nodes re-execute transactions for applications requiring fast finality, and replica nodes apply state updates without re-executing transactions.

MegaETH's data availability is ensured through EigenDA, which supports throughput of over 100 MB per second. The network also uses a dual-client model with Pi Squared to verify blocks independently, ensuring reliability. Gas fees on MegaETH are paid in ETH, not MEGA.
