Drift Protocol Suffers Massive $285M Crypto Hack on Solana Blockchain
The security breach, which occurred on April 2nd, 2026, saw hackers target the core vaults with the deepest liquidity on Drift Protocol's platform. The most affected vaults included JLP Delta Neutral, SOL Super Staking, and BTC Super Staking.
According to on-chain data, the attacker's main address was created eight days prior to the incident and had minimal interactions until 18 hours before the exploit. The hacker then used a DEX aggregator to swap stolen assets into stablecoins, which were subsequently transferred to the Ethereum mainnet via cross-chain bridges.
The official Drift Protocol team has confirmed the breach and paused all deposit and withdrawal functions while coordinating with security firms to track the funds and contain the damage. Security experts recommend that users who interacted with Drift Protocol take immediate protective measures, such as revoking approvals for Drift smart contracts.
