Crypto Council Expands Policy Focus with Digital Energy Partnership
The growing concern about energy consumption in the crypto and technology industries has led to a significant development in the industry's policy landscape. The Crypto Council for Innovation has added the Digital Energy Council to its network, marking the first entirely digital energy policy-oriented member.
This move underscores the increasing demand from industries with advanced computing systems, such as cryptocurrency mining, AI data centers, and other digital applications. These sectors consume significant amounts of electricity, with data centers alone accounting for almost 5% of total US electricity consumption.
The Digital Energy Council will work alongside the Crypto Council to enhance energy creation, grid resilience, and national security objectives in the United States. The collaboration aims to make the country more competitive in digital innovation while addressing the pressing need for intelligent energy policies that balance energy supply and increasing digital demand.
