Trump Touts Crypto as 'Powerful', Distances Himself from Family Ventures
President Donald Trump praised cryptocurrency at the launch of tax-advantaged investment accounts for children on July 6, calling it 'powerful' and himself a 'big crypto guy'. He distanced himself from his family's digital asset businesses, stating 'I let my kids do whatever the hell they do'.
Trump said he got involved in cryptocurrency for political reasons because many voters support the industry. When pressed on his family's ventures, including World Liberty Financial and its WLFI token, he claimed there was 'nothing illegal, nothing wrong with it'.
The comments come as bipartisan lawmakers negotiate ethics rules limiting how federal officials profit from digital assets while in office.
