Bulgaria Imposes Reservations on EU Sanctions Against Russia
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev announced on Friday that his country will impose reservations on the 21st package of sanctions against Russia. The move was made during a plenary session of parliament in Sofia, where Radev said he would 'protect and uphold Bulgaria's national interest'. He emphasized that this decision would not weaken Bulgaria's ties with its allies.
Radev stressed that Bulgaria maintains excellent relations with the European Union and NATO. He also mentioned recent meetings and visits to countries such as Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.
The 21st package of sanctions targets key sectors including energy, financial services, crypto, trade, and fisheries. The European Commission proposed this package on June 9, which requires approval from all EU member states before it can enter into force. Radev expressed support for post-war reconstruction in Ukraine, stating that Bulgaria will do 'everything possible' to help rebuild the country.
