Bitcoin Retreats from $80K as Top-10 Cryptos Follow
Bitcoin's price retreated from $80,000 on Thursday morning as other top-10 cryptocurrencies fell in value. The BTC price traded at $77,794, up 0.4% over the prior 24 hours but well below Wednesday's peak of $79,388.
Meanwhile, Ethereum (ETH) dropped 0.7% to $2,344, XRP declined 1.7% to $1.42, and SOL fell 1.5% to $85.83. The concentration of gains in Bitcoin while altcoins stagnate or retreat points to a narrow rather than broad market bid.
Funding rates in Bitcoin derivatives have remained negative for roughly 47 consecutive days, suggesting the rally is not being carried by leveraged longs. Bitpanda CEO Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad argued that the overnight push toward $80,000 reflects growing maturity in the digital asset industry, backed by institutional participation and more defined regulatory frameworks.
