Sei Network is making significant strides in its pursuit of high-throughput blockchain infrastructure. As part of its Giga upgrade, the network aims to increase transaction throughput to over 200,000 transactions per second (TPS), a feat that would make it one of the fastest EVM-compatible chains in existence.
The upgrade's core component is Autobahn, a multi-proposer consensus protocol that enables multiple validators to propose blocks simultaneously. This innovation allows for a significant leap from thousands of TPS to hundreds of thousands. Additionally, Giga introduces asynchronous execution, decoupling processing transactions from the consensus layer.
Sei Labs is also shipping a revamped EVM client, ensuring full compatibility with Ethereum's tooling ecosystem while outperforming its execution layer by a substantial margin. The upgrade also includes protections against Miner Extractable Value and support for AI tooling, indicating the network's commitment to on-chain AI agents and automated strategies.
