Alchemy has launched Agentcard in partnership with Visa Intelligent Commerce, enabling artificial intelligence (AI) agents to make online purchases. The platform integrates with Visa-issued tokens, allowing agents to preserve card rewards and credit lines.
Nikil Viswanathan, Alchemy's co-founder and CEO, believes AI agents will become the next major class of digital economic actors, requiring access to the global economy. Agentcard allows developers to set up a payment system in under a minute through a single API, provisioning a Visa payment token, email address, phone number, and crypto wallet for each agent.
The platform includes built-in controls, such as merchant category restrictions, per-transaction limits, and custom budgets, allowing users to manage their agents' spending. Agentcard also supports emerging agent payment protocols, including crypto, where merchants accept it.
