CertiK: Crypto Industry Loses $1.32 Billion in First Half of 2026
Crypto industry losses have decreased by 46.8% year over year to $1.32 billion in the first half of 2026, according to a report from CertiK.
The decline is attributed in part to the exclusion of last year's massive Bybit hack, which accounted for $1.4 billion in losses.
In the second quarter of 2026, losses rose by 59% from the previous quarter to $807.5 million, with KelpDAO and Drift Protocol attacks accounting for more than 70% of these losses.
CertiK recommends strengthening security measures such as protecting private keys, distributing signers across different jurisdictions, and adding controls for large transfers.
