Visa Expands Stablecoin Settlement Pilot Program to Nine Blockchains
Visa has announced an expansion of its global stablecoin settlement pilot program, adding five new blockchains to bring the total number of supported platforms to nine. The move follows a year of rapid growth in the adoption of stablecoins, which have evolved from a promising innovation to a practical way to move money globally.
The newly added blockchains include Arc, Base, Canton, Polygon, and Tempo, each with its own unique features and use cases. Visa's expansion reflects growing demand for stablecoin settlement across multiple blockchain networks, as well as increasing confidence in the technology from financial institutions, fintechs, and payment providers.
Visa's Global Head of Growth Products and Strategic Partnerships, Rubail Birwadker, stated that the company is building towards a future where interoperability is essential. By supporting multiple blockchains, Visa aims to provide partners with more choice in how they access liquidity across ecosystems and adapt as the landscape changes.
