Citi's Quantum Risk Analysis Favors Ethereum Over Bitcoin
Citi's recent research note highlights the increasing threat of quantum computing breakthroughs to digital assets. According to the bank, Bitcoin is structurally more exposed than Ethereum due to its governance structure, which resists rapid cryptographic upgrades.
The research suggests that Ethereum's history of regular protocol upgrades and flexibility in governance make it better equipped to adapt to quantum-resistant cryptography. This could give Ethereum an advantage over Bitcoin in terms of survival in a post-quantum world.
Citi has raised its year-end price target for Ethereum to $4,500, citing the potential for institutional capital rotation towards ETH based on this risk differentiation.
