New York Man Sentenced to 15 Months for $1.4M Crypto Fraud Scheme
A New York man was sentenced to 15 months in prison for running a $1.4 million crypto fraud scheme using fake Telegram accounts.
Noman Saleem, 39, pleaded guilty to wire fraud charges after investigators traced several digital wallets connected to the scheme.
The operation relied on false staking offers and private investor groups to attract victims, who transferred crypto assets directly to Saleem's control under the belief they would be used for legitimate staking activities.
Prosecutors argued that the scheme exploited Telegram trust through social engineering tactics rather than failures in blockchain technology itself.
