Ondo Breaks New Ground with Regulated Blockchain Securities
Ondo Finance has made history by tokenizing US securities on a public blockchain within existing American regulatory boundaries. This milestone achievement involves tokenizing BlackRock's iShares Core S&P 500 ETF and Micron stock on Ethereum.
The new structure differs from earlier tokenized stock products, which often only provided price exposure to underlying assets without granting ownership rights or shareholder participation. In contrast, Ondo's model ensures that every token remains backed one-to-one by regulated securities, with the underlying shares remaining inside approved US custodial arrangements.
Shareholder rights are also preserved through Broadridge's ProxyVote system, allowing token holders to access proxy voting, issuer communications, and disclosures. This integration of digital assets into existing market structures addresses a longstanding industry challenge and could reduce institutional hesitation to adopt tokenized equities.
