EU Parliament Backs Broader Digital Asset Regulation After MiCA Transition
The European Union's Parliament has formally adopted its policy stance on digital assets after the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework transitioned from a transitional period to full implementation.
The position paper, which was approved by lawmakers, calls for an assessment of whether decentralized finance (DeFi), crypto lending and borrowing, staking, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) should be brought under the EU's regulatory perimeter.
The report also urges consistent application of MiCA across member states, warning against national rules that could fragment the bloc's digital asset market.
