$30M of Clifton Collins' Seized BTC Moves Again, Raising Questions
Clifton Collins, an Irish beekeeper turned alleged cryptocurrency launderer, has seen his seized Bitcoin assets move again. In March 2024, An Garda Síochána seized $30 million in BTC and handed it over to Coinbase.
The recent movement of another $30 million has raised questions about whether the authorities are selling off the seized funds or if Collins still has control over them.
Blockchain analytics companies like Arkham Intelligence and Lookonchain identified the transfer, which was possible due to Bitcoin's public ledger. This contrasts with traditional forfeiture processes, which can be non-transparent.
